I have been using this router for 4 years since i replaced my cable D-Link router with it. Advantages: Fast, easy to use and economical Disadvantages: none found
The Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster is an upgrade of the WRT54G series, giving a 35% boost, and well worth the cost. If you use Comcast cable with speedboost as I do then why not use a speed boost router. Believe me it is faster and as all linksys routers it is great value for money.
When I was shopping for a router I had a few things in mind; speed, security, ease of use and cost. the WRT54GS gave me all of this; it's ... ...computers already great speed, it's encryption security can be set as high as you like making it almost unhackable, the installation disk that comes with the router allows even a technophobe to install it and the price is very reasonable.
I have the router hardwired to my PC and I have my laptop, Xbox360 connected to the wireless network and never have any problems with connectivity. As the router has 4 ports in the rear I could connect a lot more. ...

Advantages Very reliable and easy to setup Disadvantages Sometimes dropps off with Macintosh
...Having two laptops and 1 pc the house, it is critical that a wireless system is reliable and easy to setup.
We run PC and Macintosh laptops plus a deck based PC covering 4 floors in our home. I have run all mahines with a mixture of DHCP and static IP addresses and also have a wireless print server attached. Everything was dead easy to setup and the only slight problem is with Macintosh omputers loosing the signal periodically. I have yet to figure out if this is caused by the gateway or the wifi receiver on the laptop. Either way, re-booting the gateway does the trick everytime.
The web user interface is simple to login to and easy to navigate and modify if neccessary. There is also a feature to back settings iincase of any tragedies and it is easy to respore previous settings.
In all, this is a clever gadget that works...

Advantages Linux Based Firmware: Easy for thirdparties to add new features Disadvantages There are much better looking routers out there.
...The LinksysWRT54GS in my honourable opinion is a great piece of kit.
First of all its a product of Cisco Systems, which to me instantly suggests "decent box" as Cisco is one of (if not THE) biggest names in networking.
And second, after running this box as the core of my network for almost 12 months now, Ive found it to be a reliable and more secure than some of the previous routers I have owned.
I must admit there are much better looking routers which much the same capabilites on the market but looks arent everything.
I bought this so I could experiment with Wireless as I hadnt really experienced that type of networking before. A downfall of this product for me was the lack of guidance provided by Linksys in the way of instructions on how to securely setup your wireless connection.
Although I found a plethora of information...

The linksysrouter is built to allow a wireless internet connection within three hundred meters by connecting to an internet connection from another computer as well as offering multiple security abilities. Not only is it meant to be able to send a wireless signal but allow for other computers near by connecting to the router through Ethernet cables.
I had this wirelessrouter bought me for Christmas by a family member because I wanted to be able to go on the internet no matter where I was at home without the trouble and hassle of cables being every where therefore I was really happy when I got it until I came across a few problems.
When going to install the router one of my main concerns about using a wirelessrouter was that it would be emitting microwaves which is a scary idea but since I have been...

Manufacturer's product description
The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G, Wireless-B, and other performance-enhanced SpeedBooster devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. SpeedBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G, which increases "real-world" wireless network performance by up to 35%. Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is fully 802.11 compliant, and a "good neighbor" to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And, unlike other technologies, with SpeedBooster you'll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices.
