The Lexmark 5700 Color JetPrinter is the closest you can get to laser-quality results with an inkjet printer. This printer delivers a high 1200 dots per inch resolution--in fact it's rated 38% higher than any other inkjet in its class! The 5700 prints vibrant color at four pages per minute (ppm) and sharp black text at eight ppm. The 5700 handles a variety of media, including letter-size paper, index cards, t-shirts, labels, transparencies, envelopes or greeting cards. And, with Lexmark's Accu-Feed paper feed system, you won't have to worry about paper jams either. It knows the exact amount of pressure necessary to separate the sheets. The 5700 is easy to set up and use, and is compatible with with Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 3.1 and 3.11. For the creative in you, Lexmark also includes their Workshop software package for manipulating digital photographs and images.

...I bought this printer over a year ago for less than £100 and it has proved to be a good investment. It's a four/six colour printer, a black ink cartridge and a three colour, although you can swop the black for another three colour cartridge for photo quality printing. The software is also easy to use and allows you to adjust print head alignment and swop cartridges with out any trouble. The only disadvantage I've found is that it is not a fast as a laser printer especially at 1200dpi. You also have to wait for the ink to dry before handling. ... Read review

Advantages good quality, very easy to use and quite compact.
Disadvantages should be used at least monthly to ensure long cartridge life.

...Overall this is a good quality, reliabale printer, but, if it will not be used frequently the cartridges can block. This can be prevented by using the mantainance facilities provided in the software. The printer is lightweight and compared to some of the HP injets is modest in its size. The print speed is reasonable for the quality obtained. In 3 years i have had no problems with this printer, and have found the cartridge refills very good value. The printer would suit most people and would be especially appropriate for a family computer or one use by a student.... Read review
