The Lenovo USB Fingerprint Reader lets you gain access to confidential files with the swipe of a finger, rather than having to remember and type in different passwords for many applications. The Fingerprint Reader is small, so is ideal for travel and for using on your limited desk space. With this biometric solution to authentication you can choose to have the convenience of simple fingerprint authentication only, or configure for one of the most secure log-in processes available. This additional security is achieved when the Fingerprint Reader is used in conjunction with the embedded security chip and ThinkVantage Client Security Solution software, available on select models of ThinkCentre desktops and ThinkPad notebooks, configuring to require both fingerprint and password authentication. When active, the embedded security chip requires the user to type in a passphrase once per boot up, even if the system is configured for fingerprint authentication only. Non-embedded security chip models can be configured for fingerprint only authentication that does not also require typing in a passphrase.
