Horrible display quality
Review of HP Compaq Mobile Workstation 8710w - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 17" TFT by suchcoder

Advantages: Thin, light, tightly built
Disadvantages: Very poor screen that malkes this laptop useless.

...in my life. HP support replaced the screen - same thing. The problem is with the screen - not with the driver or graphics card. This laptop has "the best" 17" WUXGA anti-glare non-glossy display HP has to offer + NVIDIA Quadro 1600 graphics card with 512MB memory. Tried several drivers - same horrible quality. When attached to external monitor looks fine. But if I have to have an external monitor, - why use laptop? This is especially frustrating ...
...this laptop is touted by HP as ideal for 2D/3D graphics design and modeling. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is simply false advertisement on HP part. HP on-site "next day" "business critical" is support simply horrific. It took two weeks for the person to appear on site (he was supposed to be there next day after I reported the problem according to on-site service contract), did not fix the problem (well the problem is not fixable ... Defective
Review of HP Pavilion dv9650us - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 17" TFT by stonecold

Advantages: light, nice graphics
Disadvantages: wireless defective

I had bought this notebook for my wife for her birthday and anniversery and she had to return it for a full refund. It was defective on the wireless adapter. The graphics worked pretty good and was very nice. But could not get to operate on the internet. The different kind of features that it had was really good. Especially since it had everything that my wife needed for doing school work plus it was portable and was not heavy at all. It just would ... Read review

Review of Acer Aspire 7720-6508 - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 17" TFT by cachi745

Advantages: big screen
Disadvantages: slightly heavier than normal

This is a computer that currently do not see much on the market basically for having a screen 17 ", all prefer a computer manageable and low weight for porder transported easily, but if what we seek is a computer that meets all features of a desktop computer for high quality and not take all day over this is our laptop. I just looked for a laptop to work from home and have a high-resolution screen to present my data clearly in any reunion of the ...
...laptop for more weight than usual. Its design is very original with a color in the black part esteriore that when you open the screen becomes all white frames the keyboard and screen. This is a laptop that weighs a little over 3.5 kilos to carry that hung all day on his shoulder is much weight, but everything is offset by its main features in a laptop that is difficult to achieve. Basically I emphasize: -- Screen panoromamica 17 ", a resolution 1440 ... Read review

Advantages: Cheap, portable, and good looking
Disadvantages: n.a

Acer Aspire 5315-2077 - Celeron M 540 1.86 GHz - 15.4" TFT... This laptop is a great portable computer, which is reliable, complete and ultimate in style, portability, graphical capability, audio capability and all of this for such a cheap price! From my experience with this laptop, I must say it is very good in all the areas a laptop should be. I had alot of games which required ridiculous amounts of graphics memory, and for some reason, this ... Read review

The good: Beautiful, sleek design; robust software package, including Mac OS X Tiger; illuminated keyboard and big, scrollable touch pad; multimedia features include DVD burner, built-in Webcam, and remote control; can run Windows XP via Boot Camp.
