Horrible display quality
Review of HP Compaq Mobile Workstation 8710w - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 17" TFT by suchcoder

Advantages: Thin, light, tightly built
Disadvantages: Very poor screen that malkes this laptop useless.

...in my life. HP support replaced the screen - same thing. The problem is with the screen - not with the driver or graphics card. This laptop has "the best" 17" WUXGA anti-glare non-glossy display HP has to offer + NVIDIA Quadro 1600 graphics card with 512MB memory. Tried several drivers - same horrible quality. When attached to external monitor looks fine. But if I have to have an external monitor, - why use laptop? This is especially frustrating ...
...this laptop is touted by HP as ideal for 2D/3D graphics design and modeling. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is simply false advertisement on HP part. HP on-site "next day" "business critical" is support simply horrific. It took two weeks for the person to appear on site (he was supposed to be there next day after I reported the problem according to on-site service contract), did not fix the problem (well the problem is not fixable ... Defective
Review of HP Pavilion dv9650us - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 17" TFT by stonecold

Advantages: light, nice graphics
Disadvantages: wireless defective

I had bought this notebook for my wife for her birthday and anniversery and she had to return it for a full refund. It was defective on the wireless adapter. The graphics worked pretty good and was very nice. But could not get to operate on the internet. The different kind of features that it had was really good. Especially since it had everything that my wife needed for doing school work plus it was portable and was not heavy at all. It just would ... Read review

Acer 7720
Review of Acer Aspire 7720-6508 - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 17" TFT by cachi745

Advantages: big screen
Disadvantages: slightly heavier than normal

This is a computer that currently do not see much on the market basically for having a screen 17 ", all prefer a computer manageable and low weight for porder transported easily, but if what we seek is a computer that meets all features of a desktop computer for high quality and not take all day over this is our laptop. I just looked for a laptop to work from home and have a high-resolution screen to present my data clearly in any reunion of the ...
...laptop for more weight than usual. Its design is very original with a color in the black part esteriore that when you open the screen becomes all white frames the keyboard and screen. This is a laptop that weighs a little over 3.5 kilos to carry that hung all day on his shoulder is much weight, but everything is offset by its main features in a laptop that is difficult to achieve. Basically I emphasize: -- Screen panoromamica 17 ", a resolution 1440 ... Read review

Advantages: memory, graphics, nice for traveling
Disadvantages: none

If you are looking for a really nice laptop then look no farther because this is it with lots of features and functions. It is really portable o carry around any where that you are going to use for personal and school projects. The speed is rather fast compared to alot of pcs that I have used in the past. It has some nice graphics and the sound is really nice. You have to charge the battery every so often because it only runs for about four hours ... Read review

Inspiration from the Inspiron
Review of Dell Inspiron 1520 - Pentium Dual Core T2310 1.46 GHz - 15.4" TFT by frankiecesca

Advantages: Comes with great standard specifications
Disadvantages: Can start to get pricey

...not when you buy a dell computer, you pretty much choose the whole thing to be built to your choice, which if you aks me means that the order process is all part of this pc!! Now I've had my dell inspiron 1520 for nearly a year ( i'm even writing this review using it!) and even though you can order it to your specification, this model wasn't changed much from the basic spec so it gives a good insight into standard etc. First off, upon ringing through ...
...order twice saying ''thats the dell inspiron in black with...'' I found this to be the most annoying thing as if it wasn't for the fact that it was this exact pc I wanted I would have at that point taken my business elsewhere. Its' not like I was asking for a lot of difficult unusual specs or extras - it was basic with a couple of simple things. My pc did take quite a while to arrive, due to them waiting on parts which I can understand so just a ... Read review
