...It is the only OS Sony supports on this system. While you may be able to run very old legacy apps, you cannot leverage any of the cool new features of a 64-bit system like advanced video editing or running virtual machines efficiently. Yeah, you can still do that stuff but at nearly 1/2 the speed. Not too mention you are buying 4GB of RAM but can only ever access 3GB. All 32-bit OSes are stuck with this limitation.

* Sony VAIO Update Site makes installing their custom updates a manual & lengthy process, not too mention the download names are meaningless... what is S-V2N-9281.282.EXE?
* Sony Support Site does not recognize this model, does not have manuals, specs, or drivers available when entering the model manually.
* Sony Business Site is not in synch with the support site and DOES contain specs and a lot of marketing hype

...it removes all the files. Sony builds fine hardware but has many problems in writing good software for peripherals. When I bought this machine the was no option to buy without the junk software. The other problem is that SONY DOES NOT GIVE YOU DISK MEDIA FOR THE OS. The OS is on a hidden drive. Advantages: Price, performance, hardware Disadvantages: The battery!
Acer Aspire 3050 is categorized in the low price end of laptops. It's hard to find a laptop which is cheaper and still performs as well as this machine. The laptop comes with an AMD Mobile Sempron 3400+ 1.8 GHz processor, which is quiet okay. This pc isn't recommended for those of you who play a lot of computer games, but to those of you who mostly uses your laptop to work and surfing on the internet I would gladly recommend this one. Acer Aspire 3050 comes with a RW DVD drive, a 14.1" TFT active WXGA monitor (1280x800) and build in wireless LAN, so that you can connect to a wireless internet device. Where this Aspire really disappoints me, is when we talk about the battery it comes with. The battery doesn't live more than about 1.5 hour, which is really irritating.
