This is only my second lappie and the first for some years and I have been delighted with its slim profile, excellent quality screen (videos, YouTube and pictures appear very realistic) and the speed with which it recharges. The battery life is not very long but a bigger one can be bought and as there are three power settings that you can choose you can decide how to utilise the available power. It is a nice notebook to have. My neice just got one and it has awsome graphics. It is very easy to use and the memory on it is very good. The hard drive is big and it is easy to carry around. I have a Compaq Presario desktop PC that I really love so I decided to purchase this laptop. I think the price was great, which is one thing I love about the Presario; it's a great value computer. For basic use, this is an excellent buy. I use it more than my desktop. ...in my life. HP support replaced the screen - same thing. The problem is with the screen - not with the driver or graphics card. This laptop has "the best" 17" WUXGA anti-glare non-glossy display HP has to offer + NVIDIA Quadro 1600 graphics card with 512MB memory. Tried several drivers - same horrible quality. When attached to external monitor looks fine. But if I have to have an external monitor, - why use laptop? This is especially frustrating ...
...this laptop is touted by HP as ideal for 2D/3D graphics design and modeling. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is simply false advertisement on HP part. HP on-site "next day" "business critical" is support simply horrific. It took two weeks for the person to appear on site (he was supposed to be there next day after I reported the problem according to on-site service contract), did not fix the problem (well the problem is not fixable ... I had bought this notebook for my wife for her birthday and anniversery and she had to return it for a full refund. It was defective on the wireless adapter.
