Advantages: powerful components, solid, many interfaces Disadvantages: too heavy, missing mini DVI port
Thinkpad t61pDescription
I bought the t61p 3 monthes ago. It is a real power horse. Windows Vista runs very smoothely on this machine. The 1920x1200 screen resolution results in a very fine-grained text display. The t61p comes with a lot of interfaces including firewire, usb, wifi, card reader. The heat development (a problem in previous versions of the T-series) is moderate. Thinkpad t61p Disadvantages
One big disadvantage though ... ...they could build it somewhat thinner and leighter (Lenovo has to learn from Apple here). Another disadvantage seems to me to be the lack of any DVI interface. Why should you be forced to buy the docking station just to use a DVI-only monitor.
Thinkpad t61p Advantages
The traditional advantages of thinkpad computers are all to be found here: a nice software package of useful utillities, a robust case/frame, and a choice of great components ...

Advantages: Easy to type on, nice glossy screen, choice of colors, lightweight Disadvantages: Horrid speakers, sound card, dell wireless card
...purchased not 1 but 2 Dell Inspiron 1525 laptops. The price was right! My daughter got the bright green case and I got the blossom. Thier nice looking laptops, good size 15" screens, true color glossy. The keyboards seem to be much easier to type on then my old 9300 Dell laptop. Speed is good, and applications load quickly on boot up.
Although this laptop is a great deal for the price, there are some downsides to it. 1. The speakers are horrid unless ... ...to a better sound card. Dell boo boo on that one. The 1525 has Dell brand built in wireless, with xtra built in antennas for better connections. Ummmmm...Dell has some work to do on their wireless cards. My old 9300 has Intel wireless built in and I can pick up free wifi just about everywhere I go. Using the 1525 in the same places, I am unable to connect to the same wifi I get with my 9300. I should have upgraded to Intel wireless (kicked myself ...

Advantages: Lightweight, Excellent Video and Affordable Disadvantages: Low On-board Audio, No DVD Writer
The Acer Aspire 3680 is a very lightweight and reliable notebook. I had mine upgraded to 1 Gig of ram and installed Windows Vista Ultimate, which didn't seem to slow it down at all. The graphics card and display monitor are superb, providing a crystal clear viewing experience. The drawbacks to this notebook are that the on-board audio is very low. I recommend purchasing a small, portable set of speakers to enhance the sound. Second, I have yet to ...

Advantages: easy to use, compatible with new software, has Microsoft Office available, very customizable Disadvantages: it's a different type of computer if you are used to a PC
...the money. The .Mac program and the Apple Support are also worth the money that you have to dish out to get them. And if you're smart, you'll buy the office and sell it to your friends when you're done, because you can use the program up to 3 times. ...

Advantages: value for money Disadvantages: casing comes off when dropped
Dell Latitude D600 is a great little computer that easily transports around the house. While playing music through this computer it provides enough sound so that you can hear it over the vacuum, but not so much that you will awaken the neighbors. It is really quite a quick little computer when compared to most other computers that are not dinosaurs that some of you may have had in tha past. My wifey bought this computer while I was deployed and when ... ...for the product. The two main problems with this computer are that if it is dropped more than a few inches the casing will pop off and it has to be reinstalled, and the keys on the computer pop off easily making it hard to write reviews on this site in such an eloquent manner as some other reviewers do. I hope this has helped you in your decision. ...
