LG VX5200

Its VGA pictures are worth a thousand words, but its advanced voice command really gets the conversation going. You can tell the VX5200 to do just about anything. It talks back... more...too-through a robust speakerphone-so you can get phone info easier and keep your eyes focused on other things. Mobile web and color LCDs inside and out seal the deal.

I have had this phone for two years. It was free as an upgrade and with a contract renewal. It's finally time for me to say "Good Bye" to my old friend because I need to renew my contract and will be upgrading again. Yippie!

This has been a very reliable phone. I use it as my primary phone since I moved from another state and kept the same number and calling plan. This is great for me to keep in touch with friends and family in my home state.

It's compact and folds closed. I keep it in my back pants pocket since I usually have it on "vibrate" so as not to interrupt meetings or other places of business. It has an alarm clock, calendar, world clock, notepad, calculater...I have used all of these features. You can even set 3 different alarms.

I use it frequently for text messaging. The keypad is easy to use and lights up for use in darker settings. I had to use it once or twice in a movie theater and it was great! You can also send pictures with your text. Fun feature!

The camera takes relatively good pictures. It has options for resolution, timer, flash, brightness, white balance, shutter sound and color effects. I can honestly say I only used the resolution, flash and brightness. I have taken pictures of scenery as well as people and gotten some pretty good shots. There is a fun option of saving pictures to put with your contacts so you see them when they are calling. You can also add sound and text to any picture you have.

The contact list is very easy to set up. You can also save new contacts when people call for the first time. You have a record of missed calls, received calls and dialed calls. It seems like my friends change their numbers all the time so this has been a frequently used feature.

It has Mobile Web 2.0. I believe you pay extra for this feature but I never used it. I was able to get lots of fun ring tones and wall papers for my phone. I paid extra for that but if I am recalling correctly, I could get 3 ring tone applications for $1.99. I did have a choice of several different types of music for tones. My favorite ring tone is "Jingle Bells" with "Santa" checking a world globe, set as the wallpaper. There are lots of games you can purchase too but I didn't use this feature.

It came with a User Guide that walks you through everything. Also a Quick Reference Guide with a WELCOME CD-rom included and for the "Get-It-Now" feature that you use for games, ring tones and wallpapers. I also got a wall charger with it.

I purchased a hands-free earpiece since it's not safe to talk and drive. Plus you never know how busy your hands may be at times. I liked it for the beach so that I could keep the phone in my bag and still talk on it without getting sand in it. I also purchased a car charger. The battery goes below half charged for a day with moderate to heavy use. I charge it every night just to be sure.

I have dropped this phone on cement. Left it on the seat of my car in the sun. Let the battery go completely dead. Aside from a few blemishes, it still works like a charm. No complaints about lost or dropped calls. Always a signal except for certain times in the car going through mountain areas. I used it to drive from California to Colorado when I first moved here. Not being familiar with the roads all the way here, I felt safe having this phone and contact with the real world to guide me through the trip.

Like I said, I am renewing my contract and getting my upgrade. Tomorrow, in fact! I'm excited about getting a new phone but for the past two years, this phone has been ideal for me.

I would recommend this phone to everybody.
