Advantages: Beautiful & elegant, crisp colors Disadvantages: Not easy to regulate brightness/contrast, too harsh for sensitive eyes
This monitor is very beautiful and that is why I chose it. (I also liked the wide viewing angle & ability to connect analog/digital.) We bought it online, after looking at several monitors in stores. (Mostly, they pretty much looked the same.)
There was a review online talking about its brightness, but I didn't take it into account. Now I wish I did.
SyncMaster 173P really is exceptionally bright, to the extent that it hurts my eyes. (Truth is, ... ...of time behind the monitor. But that was precisely why I wanted a LCD display, so that it would be easier on the eyes.)
/Okay, I admit my sensitivity to light got worse when using this monitor in a dark room with lights off - I thought it would be more environmentally friendly & also better for the eyes, but it wasn't. So now I make sure to have lights on, & it's a bit better../
There are no buttons for things like darker-lighter or contrast, instead ...

Advantages: wide screen, very clear and good color reflection, lite Disadvantages: none
...it occupies more space. The Samsung Syncmaster is also flat at the back so its easy to clean because you can carry it all by yourself, and less space needed.
You can even turn it from side to side, up and down without any hassle that it would be dropped because of its stand that holds the screen tightly. And because its from Samsung, its durable and its really a quality brand, its worth it for your money. ...

Advantages: Excellent response time and clear screen Disadvantages: Somewhat costly at the $600+ region
I used the Samsung SyncMaster 710TM at work now for over a year in an office where we had 7 or 8 of the same model used by staff and clients alike. I always found them to be reliable and with clear resolutions. No complaints whatsoever on any of them so far!
The M of TM in the product name stands for multimedia - this monitor has a built in speaker, although the sound quality is nothing to write home about - it's rather tinny, so don't rely just ... ...mark.
All in all the Samsung SyncMaster 710TM gets big thumbs up for usability and slight thumbs down for cost.

Advantages: Initially it was a huge improvement on my old monitor Disadvantages: Very poor and slow manufacturer support
...The monitor included was the Samsung SyncMaster 713BM which I'm reviewing here.
This was the first time I'd owned a TFT/LCD monitor at home (although I had used several at work before then) and I was quite excited about having a monitor which took up less space on my PC workstation, having previously had a Belinea 17 inch "tank" of a monitor which I really shouldn't berate as it gave me good service for a good 5 years or so. MY OPINION
... ...and luckily it was a Samsung as they had 3 year warranty periods.
I was very relieved. I didn't fancy spending a $300 or more or a new monitor at this time as I'm off on holiday soon and when you consider you can get a whole new computer for around $1000 with lots of bits thrown in as well as a monitor, I didn't want to waste money on just buying a new monitor. I called up Samsung and was told by a very nice chap that someone would definitely call ...
