...Jeff Wayne's 'War of the Worlds' was first released in 1978 to wide acclaim. Richard Burton narated the story and people like David Essex, Phil Lynott and Justin Hayward (of Moody Blues fame) sang the songs. Eighteen years on and Sony decided to revamp the entire album calling it the Millennium Edition. This edition has been fed through sound digitisers to enhance the quality of playback and has been recorded onto CD using 20 bit encoding instead of the 16 bit used for normal CDs. Listen to this CD play and you will hear a much more dynamic sound range than the original album. The music almost jumps out of the speakers. The War of the Worlds comes on two CDs, the first CD being the best of them.
