The JVC Kaboom Series of portable stereos set the standard for high power sound, deep bass and distinctive styling. The RV-B550 is a fine example of cigar-shaped JVC boomboxes. It offers a pair of full-range, 4-inch speakers placed on either end of the cylindrical body. Powered by 12 watts per channel, they are illuminated to add that certain "Je ne sais Disco" to the area immediately surrounding the system. The single CD player can be programmed for 20 tracks, or you can let it run wild in the random mode. CD synchro-start triggers the cassette recorder at the precise time when the CD begins to play. There is an auto-reverse feature on the cassette player and the digital tuner has enough memory to store 15 AM and 30 FM station presets. The sound can be modified to taste with three preset equalization (EQ) patterns and a bass boost with two steps in addition to "off." Depending on what you are listening to, you can choose from Beat, Pop or Clear. The RV-B550 comes equipped with a remote control and a case as well as a shoulder-carrying strap for quick and easy transport.
