With a sleek shape the user can place them on the desk or secure easily to... more...your HP CRT monitor. JBL Speakers feature a digital audio player input port on the front of the right speaker. You can connect your digital music player (such as an MP3 device) directly to the speakers for headphone-free listening for yourself or a group of friends. The speakers are independently powered, so you can listen without having to turn on the PC. JBL Speakers offer a rich three watts per channel output. The speakers can produce up to 93 decibels of high quality sound, for the ultimate in stereo audio. This allows you to fully enjoy your CDs, DVDs, games, and digital music. Power and volume controls are conveniently located on the front of the right speaker, so you can control the volume without fumbling through your PC software. A green LED in the center of the right speaker control panel tells you immediately if the speakers are powered on. A key component of the high quality sound produced by JBL Speakers is the tuned bass port located near the bottom of each speaker. This port is finely tuned to emit just the right amount of bass output and correctly balance it with treble audio. This premium combination of bass and treble produces a rich sound that is perfect for listening to music or for a real-life gaming experience. JBL Speakers are equipped with side-mounted, retractable hooks for quick and convenient attachment to the right and left sides of all Compaq CRT and new HP CRT monitors. A friend of mine gave me these speakers as he replaced his and I am completely happy with them. The sound from these speakers are much clearer, picking up highs and lows, than the speakers that are in my computer.

The speakers hook up to your computer with cables. The speakers are labeled on which should be on your right and which should be on your left which helps make music or any other sound coming from them sound right. For instance if you are watching a video and the sound associated with that video shows something occuring on the right hand side, then the noise associated with that should come out mostly of the right speaker and not the left speaker.

There is a dial in the front of one of the speakers along with one output . The dial is for lowering or increasing the volume and the output is for headphones in case you don't want to bother anyone around you. On one side of each of the speakers you will find metal hooks that can be opened to "hang" onto your monitor - that is if you still have one of the older bulky monitors. The hooks do not work with the thin LCD monitors that everyone loves now (because of saving space) and replacing the old monitors with.

I will say that the speakers seem a little larger than they need to be though. If I were to buy new ones and were willing to spend the money I would definately look for something smaller. But I would also definately look at what new speakers JBL has out as these work great and I do like their products now.
