JBL Creature II

Advantages: Amazing crystal clear sound, attractive design
Disadvantages: Power button not easily accessible, touch sensitive controls may sometime be not very responsive

...the same price range, the JBL Creature 2 is far ahead with its crystal clear sound and accurate renditions of higher frequencies. Hello, This kind of boxes are very good, I use them by myself, you got one subwoover and 2 little boxes. These things looks also very cool, look att the picture and look at the design, they give very good sound, you can plug these things in your computer and you got beautofull sound. ...I'm quite knowledgable about speakers systems, so i bought these after doing a lot of research to make sure i was getting a good product. They are simple to get working and i was initially very happy with the quality of sound they produced. After about 2 hours of playing with my new gadget i found that the sub resonated quite audiably at 50Hz. I thought this was a fault with the system so I exchanged them for another 'Creature II' and i still found this resonance was apparent. Im guessing its just the natural frequency of the sub which is a shame as it is in audiable range. After a few hours of fiddling with high and low pass filters and an equaliser I managed to get rid of this problem, fine for me but i feel this may be a bit complex for novices. After sorting out the initial problems, I can safely say that this is one of the best... Read review

...Before I bought these speakers about a year ago, I had thoroughly searched the internet for any opinion, review, press release, and editorial on the Creature II and discovered that these were rather exceptional speakers. Yet I was still concerned that this was a product of design over quality - simply due to the shockingly small size of the satellite speakers (about the size of your fist), and that JBL were more concerned about desigining some speakers that would complement Apple Macs than impress the music listener. Even when I went to Tottenham Court Road to test out the Creature II, I was not quite convinced that the audio quality was up to scratch. This could have been due to the fact that it was very noisy in-store, with lots of people and the obligatory shop muzak playing - obviously no condition to seriously compare speaker... Read review

...the volume,a gently tap increases or decreases the volume while a longer press increases the volume at a faster level.The sub also has a treble and bass knobs on it to adjust the sound but I have found that the bass at halfway is really deep so you can imagine on full what it would be like.The total power of the JBL creature II is around 44 watts which is more than powerfull enough for PC use or you can also use these speakers for connecting MP3 players,these speakers also come in white to complement the Ipod. First thing I tried was playing a CD on the PC and well I was amazed at the sound,the sound was really crisp and thumping bass(as it was only half way you can feel the floor vibrate) I turned it up further and it was very very loud,I would go as far to say that if you did not own a HIFI and had a PC these spekers would do a better job...
