Review of Intel Desktop Board D865PERL - motherboard - ATX - i865PE by

Advantages good quality on-board sound, good software Disadvantages some socket positioning design errors
...sensing -
This is a great feature, instead of having 6 audio plugs you have to use 3 stereo jacks, front L/R, rear L/R and center/sub. When you plug these in it auto detects them and sets your audio up accordiing to what you have plugged in. Sound quality is very good for on-board sound but there is slight crackles sometimes (although that may well be my speakers)
8 USB 2.0 ports -
4 on the ack and up to 4 on the front, plenty of USB ports.
Support for pentium 4 HT
4 Dual channel DDR DIMM sockets -
I found a problem with these, if you have a graphics card plugged in then the clip on the first RAM socket does not open as it hits the card.
Software
It comes with a lot of software. The Intel Active Monitor is very useful, it tells you the temperature, fan speed and powersupply voltages of the different zones in your computer...
