Advantages Fast, Cheap, 64-bit, so much better than an Intel! Disadvantages Lack of 64-bit programs out
...to run at at least 2.2Ghz (equivalent to a 3.2Ghz Intel) on the stock heatsink (maybe more on a better one - try a Zalman heatsink).
I have found no problems with the performance of this, or the temperature, even when playing Battlefield 2 and Call of DUty 2 on full graphics! It just devours the game and makes one hell of a good gaming computer.
The one bad thing people point out is that there are currently very few 64bit programs out (only a beta of XP64, FarCry etc.), but see this as preparing, so when 64 bit programs come out, you will be able to use them straight away! Also, because it is 64bit it tends to have a bigger cache than most 32bit ones, making it faster and better!
Also, people go on about Intels HyperThreading technology and say this hasnt got it, making it worse. Thats cr*p, HT tech is there because the Intel CPU isnt...

Advantages Very fast, highly overclockable, quite cheap now Disadvantages None
...increase heat output from the CPU it also instantly voids your warranty and can in the long term reduce your CPU's lifespan, i only included the overclocking qualities as this is quite a selling point in regards to this product and is therefore very popular with the more 'serious' PC nuts out there who like to tinker with their systems.
If you do purchase the Pentium 4 2.4B processor please make sure that you buy the retail version as this comes fully boxed complete with Intels own supplied heatsink and fan and instructions on how to fit your new CPU.
On the subject of the HS/F and installation i would like to add that everything you need is included, the very large supplied heatsink and fan come with a pre-attached protective thermal pad so all you need to do is insert the CPU into the motherboard (taking great caution not to bend any...

Advantages Modular power connectors, good design, solid build, designed in the UK. Disadvantages Large
...for the power supply[1]. ATX 2.2 includes changes to the main power connector (20pin to 24pin), removed auxiliary power connector and includes a need for a 3.3v tolerance. Effectively ATX2.2 is a a new standard variant based on older designs looking to power newer technologies but also to provide increased power modulation and better tolerances to power deviation.
Intel BTX, another form factor standard that talks about heatsinks, finalised about a year ago. From the point of view of the consumer it makes it harder to have a very small case that complies to all specifications however it should also improve tolerance to heat substantially. From the point of view of the manufacturer it is difficult as it means doing some simple redesigns.
SLi (Scalable Link interface), this is the interesting specification that's going to take some time...
