Palak and Dl KhichdiThis is one of my family's favourite monsoon food.Nothing can compare a plate full of hot khichdi on a rainy afternoon.
Ingredients
  • 200 gm Basmati rice
  • 200 ml water
  • 100 gm moong dal( split beans dehusked)
  • spinach,2 bunches
  • 4-5 chopped garlic
  • 1 chopped tomato and onion
  • 3 green chillies(can add if on taste)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Sugar, a pinch is enough
  • Turmeric powder, again a pinch
    and finally
  • Ghee

Method
  • Wash the rice and soak it for 20 minutes.
  • Blanche the spinach and make a puree with green chillies.
  • Boil the moong dal and het Ghee till it melts.
  • Add cumin seeds and fry garlic in it till brown.
  • Saute onions till transparent. Add tomatoes and stir for a minute.
    Now add the spinach puree and stir for another minute.
  • Add sugar,salt,turmeric and water.Allow it to boil.
  • Now add the rice and dal and keep it covered till the vegetables and rice are all cooked properly.

Serve the dish Hot and enjoy it durng a rainy day or a cold winter evening!
