Simplest Appliance Ever!

Advantages: Easy to use, sturdy, modern look
Disadvantages: Ice cream removal can be slightly messy.
I got this as a gift, and since I'm not much of a chef, I thought, ok, here's another kitchen appliance to just take up space. But, unless you're making a frozen custard (requiring heating of egg yolks), it can't get any easier. The only recipe I've used from the enclosed book is the one for vanilla, which was great. I also received a Williams Sonoma book which had recipes to be used with any machine. About the machine: The removable middle section ... ...air. You freeze this section for 1 day before using the machine. Then you take it out and replace it into the machine, mix cream & sugar (and any other flavoring ingredients) and pour into the bowl, turn the switch to the on position and leave it for about 30 minutes. Advantages: does not take long, makes really good icecream
Disadvantages: none

Advantages: Easy to use and clean. Makes ice cream fast.
Disadvantages: A little loud when running. Not able to make multiple batches in one day.
This is a great ice cream maker. It's easy to use and to clean. Just use you're favorite recipe and put the mix in the machine and let it churn for 20 minutes. Any chunky bits, like chocolate chips or nuts, get added in the last 2 to 5 minutes. Just warm water, soap and a sponge clean up the freezer bowl and paddles in a snap. I wouldn't want to leave the maker on the counter, but it doesn't take up a huge amount of space in the cupboard. It makes ... ...run a little loud. You won't be able to watch TV in the kitchen while it's running. The ice cream comes out the maker the consistency of soft serve and should be frozen for about 4 hours (in a different container) in order to get hard ice cream. The instructions state this. I keep the freezing tub in the freezer all the time, so it's ready to go. The freezing tub does have to be frozen at least 24 hours, so you can't make multiple batches in one ...
