I bought this product because we have so many cats at home. I'm allergic to cats because I have a mild skin eczema, but stray cats just like living in our backyard! Even though I keep shooing them away, they come back all the time. I'm also allergic to dust and pollen, so the best solution for me was to buy an air purifier. Now, my allergies aren't very bad, so I wasn't looking for a very good purifier. We have a Honeywell fan at home that has proven to be very durable, so I bought the cheapest Honeywell air purifier I could find, and this is it!
It retails between $89-$99, and I bought mine for $85 after discounts. While I find it a lot more expensive than a fan, my dad tells me that it's already quite cheap for a purifier. Below are some of the features it had:
* Permanent filters-Other models required you to change the filter every now and then, but this model has a permanent filter. There is absolutely no need to replace the filter. When it's dirty, all you have to do is take out the filter, vacuum it, and put it back. I like that we could save a lot of money in the long run just by having a permanent filter.
* Filter clean indicator- There's a button at the top of he system that lights up to indicate when the filter must be cleaned. Though the manual recommends that we clean it every month, I usually clean it once a week for maintenance purposes. The back filter gets dirty too because of the dust in the room, so I don't want it to get too clogged.
PROS * Good for dust and odor from pets * A built-in ionizer delivers extra cleaning power and helps freshen the air that passes through it. * Great performance and price for purifiers that don't need filters * Supposedly reduces 99% of airborne particles such as dust, pollen, cat dander and mold spores from the air that passes through the filter.
CONS * There are three fan settings: low, medium, high. Setting the fan at high produces a loud noise that is disturbing, so you need to set the fan on low if you want to sleep. * Cannot remove smoke
Overall, this product is really worth your money. if someone in your household has allergies to pets, dust, and pollen, then you ought to buy yourself one of these. You can plug it anywhere (even if it doesn't look that nice) to purify the air. You can really tell the difference of having purified air. My dad loved it so much that he's buying three more for the other rooms in our house. As long as you keep it on a low setting, it won't make much noise.
