My parents actually own 2 of these. My father is a smoker but my mom quiet a few years ago and is now noticing the smoke. So they bought these to help things out. One is kept in the kitchen at the table for when my dad is in there smoking and the other is in his den where he smokes the most. When I take my kids over he only smokes in this room and it really makes a difference. It does not totally get rid of the smell or all of the smoke but is a huge improvement. Best things about this machine are that it is cheap and easy to use. Worst things is that on high it is loud and you have to buy replacement filters. However, machines that do not use replacement filters are really expensive so this is a nice trade off as the filters are reasonable in price. Another good thing is that it is small and can be moved to which ever room or area of your home it is needed.
