...I first hurd of Hank Williams III at Reading festivle (2000), I loved his father Hank Willams Jn's country tracks and when i noticed in the line up his son so i decided it was a must see and i cetainly wasn't wrong! The band contain an eletric - double bass and electric violins which make a raw punk sound with heavy country influences and sounds -they mix brilliantly in a totaly original set up. Hank sings about all maner of life with clear country influinces. lyrics like "My hillbilly daddy's.." and "I rasied a lot of hell in my younger days" (of cource refering to the ledginary country singer Hank Williams jn) show an amaseing insite into his life as a country born punk gorwing up and liveing a country life but slideing slowly to a more traditional rock life style. Advantages Sludgy noisy rock, great fun, great cover.
Disadvantages a bit wierd for the mainstream rock fan, approach with care...

...the “lyrics” to “Hooch”. Also, worth checking out is “The Crybaby”, which is an album containing collaborations with, amongst others, Tool, Mike Patton (ex-Faith No More), and Hank Williams III. I’ll review it here some day.... Read review
