great beginners camera
Review of HP PhotoSmart R707 by wellsie82 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages easy to use and operate, light, small and stylish and capable of taking some great photos
Disadvantages you don't get many "free" extras such as extra memory, spare battery or tripod

...I brought this camera in the summer of 2005 as I wanted something better than my very basic and cheap Kodak which I purchased a few years before. I've got on well with this camera in every aspect. The camera is very easy to use and has many help features built-in including advice/improvements on each picture taken. The picture setting has a number of modes for taking pictures of things like landscapes, objects, portrait, sunset to name a few. It also has an optical zoom and an automatic lens cover so there's no need to worry about the lens becoming damaged when it's not in use. The pictures can be downloaded onto your PC in a few seconds in a handy jpeg format. It also has a good video mode on the camera but the only draw-back here is not being able to use the zoom when the video is in use. The video is stored as a popular... Read review

Great for a beginner like me.
Review of HP PhotoSmart R707 by EffieG taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Simple to use, reliable, great battery life.
Disadvantages Very small screen - hard to see what you've taken

...This is my first digital camera and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Having had no more than a cursory glance at the manual I got some pretty decent results from my very first foray - over 70 photos taken with flash on one battery, most of which came out surprisingly well given my talent for photography. I've since invested in the docking station and it really doesn't come much simpler than that arrangement when it comes to uploading and organising photos - the spare battery that came with the docking station is also very handy and makes the additional purchase very cost-effective. A good-sized memory card and this is an incredibly useful little gem: Easy to carry around, takes good quality shots and small but respectable videos (with a reasonable sound quality) that can be as long as memory and/or battery life permits... Novices only
Review of HP PhotoSmart R707 by bishib70 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Easy to use
Disadvantages Limited functions

...I bought this based on a review that suggested it was relatively cheap, easy to use but still had loads of features. The first bit is right but the camera itself is limited. Anyone seriously interested in digital photography will find the macro function quite terrible, you can never actually get close enough to a subject to take a macro shot! It also suffers a lot of noise when using any of the in-camera lighting features. Basic shots are fine but beware when conditions are anything other than normal. Lowlight conditions are a particular problem so it's probably best to have a decent image package as a lot of shots will need improving on the PC. The LED screen is small but reasonable quality. a lot of my pictures seemed clearer here than after I transferred them to the computer. Still an okay purchase for novices but anyone looking to...
