I received this camera as a Christmas present from my husband in 2006. He bought it for me because I wanted a digital camera for work. I am a Real Estate agent, and I take a lot of pictures of the houses that I list, and I also make my own virtual tours for the internet.

I do not know exactly why my husband picked this particular camera. However, knowing him, it had something to do with the price. He is not a technological expert, so any information about high end optics or megapixels would completely go over his head (and mine, too).

For those of you who do understand the technical language, it has 5.0 megapixel resolution, and a 3X optical zoom lens. There is a built in flash, with automatic red eye removal. The effective flash range is 12.5 feet. I do not know if any of this is good, average or bad, but it has satisfied me completely.

The camera has a help menu built in which has been great. It answers many questions you may have and also includes top ten tips.

There is a design gallery where you can make adjustments to your pictures. It does red eye removal, modifies color, adds borders, rotates the picture, and even records audio. I have not used the design gallery, but someday I will try it when I have time to do it.

The capture menu on the camera is where you set the ISO speed, shooting mode, image quality, date & time imprint, white balance, and exposure compensation. The shooting mode optimizes the settings for your shot. Image quality sets the resolution. White balance adjusts your color balance, and exposure compensation adjusts the brightness. Again, I have not used this menu, but there may come a time that I will need to use it.

This camera does take videos. My husband has done this quite a bit, and it is a cool feature.

The downside to this camera (for me) is that when I upload my pictures to the computer, they do not transfer in the order they were taken. To a lot of people that may not matter. However, since I make my own virtual tours (with the aid of a virtual tour software program), I need for the still pictures to be in order. They are then spliced together to create the panoramic scene. Since the pictures are not in order, it takes me forever to make a virtual tour. I have to hunt to find each shot to put them back in the correct order to make my tour. That is a hassel. Perhaps there is a way to change the order they upload in, but I have not figured it out.

The camera takes 2 AA batteries. I use Duracell rechargeable batteries, to keep from having to buy so many batteries. No matter if I buy batteries, or use my rechargeable batteries, it seems like I reach "low battery" pretty quickly. I always take extra batteries with me for this reason. I used to use my Broker's digital (Canon) camera, and it was the same way . So I do not think this is a unique problem for this specific camera.

This is the first digital camera that I have owned. I have been happy with the quality of the pictures I have taken. I am not a great photographer, but I have impressed myself with the pictures I have taken with this camera. It was also very easy to learn how to operate. It is a good camera for a beginner, and I would recommend it.
