"CF Pocket" CompactFlash (CF) adapter for the popular Hewlett-Packard 520 and 540 series Jornada PDAs. The slim adapter consists of a CF type I insert in the front, which mounts in the Jornada's built-in CF type I slot, and a CF type II slot in the back, which accepts CF type II cards and IBM Microdrives. With the introduction of the CF Pocket adapter, Jornada users are able to use higher capacity memory cards and Microdrives just like users of the other two major brands of Pocket PC-based handhelds, which are Compaq and Casio. An important feature of the adapter is its slim profile. It is very thick and also is very light. The small size and lightweight were achieved in part due to there being no "ejector mechanism" in the adapter. Instead, the adapter has a thumb cutout area that the company believes should make removal of most cards fairly easy.

Advantages Size and features Disadvantages A bit costly
...I was looking for a handheld Pc to be able to work on my e-mail on my daily journey into London. Ended up buying the HPJornada540 which runs Microsofts latest "Pocket Pc" operating system. This has given me Word, Excel and Outlook so exceeded my initial requirement.
Then I got into MP3 music and had to buy a Compact Flash card to hold enough for my 45 minute journey. Yes I can now listen to CD quality sound whilst processing my thoughts ready for the day.
Have also transfered some Jpegs across to form my own picture gallery. Have also created maps using Autoroute 2001 and been able to transfer these to help me locate new customers when I'm out of the office.
Great Product - A must have!!...

Advantages Comes with USB Cradle, Serial Lead and PSU. Hard Screen Cover. Outlook 2000. Disadvantages Dodgy Screen, Battery, No FLASH ROM
...I bought my HPJornada540 from Buy.Com about 2 years ago when they were about £350. It came with a 32MB Memory (was called Jornada 548) and a 24MB Compact Flash Card as part of the bundle.
My main use for this device was and still is, synchronising my Inbox and Calendar from Outlook. The device came with a copy of Outlook 2000 included.
Secondary uses include use of Word for making notes whilst away from my main computer and the odd game of cards whilst waiting for Trains and Planes.
The Jornada, in use, is hardly Pocket PC – especially not shirt pockets unless they are re-inforced and you don’t mind leaning a bit. It’s a little on the heavy side, however it is quite rugged.
I have sent my Jornada back for repair once because the early models suffered from dodgy screens which kept powering off. The whole return process was painless...

Good purchase

Advantages compact easy to use, good suite of programmes good internet connectivity Disadvantages small screen typingwith stylus can be slow
...I have recently purchased a Journada Series 540 with Windows CE 3 as the OS. The purchase came with the docking cradle, connecting wires and a modem (56K).
The software contains Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows Media Player, Reader, Money and some other smaller programmes such as a calculator and games.
I mainly purchased it to be able to access the web and e mail while travelling. It took me very little time to configure the modem and the connection facility to be online. The manual although small is concise and readable.
It comfortably fits in the palm of the hand and is light and easy to carry. Also a rechargable battery (8 hours power per charge) means no more batteries to carry around!
It is not suitable for heavy duty word processing (the keyboard is on the screen itself and uses a stylus to enter words into a document...
