Advantages: Fast, good price, easy installation Disadvantages: needs a lot more power to run
I bought this video card a while ago and it has been working perfectly since. The card requires a PCI express slot so those of you with an older AGP slot are out of luck if you want this sweet piece of hardware. In addition to the PCI express slot the video card also needs a direct line to the power supply. This is the first time I've seen a video card need that much power to be pumped through it before it can work properly.
Though it needs so much ... ...card is seriously fast. I can install any game on the market at the moment and play it with the highest graphics settings with little to no lag time at all. I can get a good 60fps in my MMORPGs with 30 people on my screen. This card is worth the $200+ they charge for it considering the power it has and the extra HDTV output support for massive big screen gaming if the need rises. ...

Advantages: Performance and price Disadvantages: Heat and size
...this model HD 4870 from Gigabyte catched my attention due to its price tag and specification. I took this back home as my first ATI product and ended up with a great experience. It performed well, indeed very well for both Directx9 and 10 latest games. It would be a great card for VISTA users as well, especially in native DirectX 10 mode. The graphic performance is stunning. Smooth FPS over 50 shouldn't be a problem in the resolution 1680X1050 (even ... ...GRID). Another step that the users should do is to periodically check for driver update, it will help in attaining better performance for latest games.
A few things that might be mindful are the heat, size/lenght of the card. You need a mid-chasis in order to get it properly fit in. The lenght 23cm could be too big to mini-chasis. The heat it generated could be high (up to 80'c on stock fan speed). The suggestion is to get a tool (you can find it ...

Advantages: Can take on any modern day game with ease Disadvantages: Can run a little hot stock
I did a great deal of thinking before I purchased this video card. My previous card was a 8800 GT Alpha Dog extreme edition. I really think ATI has done a great job with the 4800 series cards but I wanted to go with the top of line so I purchased this one. I must say one thing...It has performed to all the expectations.
I am a gamer and build my own systems and being a gamer I demand only the best out of my equipment. With this video card I have ... ...Crysis, Mass Effect, Call of Duty Modern warfare, Quake Wars on max settings with a high fps of around 60+. Most people would say an FPS of 30 is about the lowest one could go to deem a game playable so you can see this card can take that on easily. It does run hot though. There is a after market program called EperTool that you can down load that will let you manually adjust the fan speed for the stock fan speed runs the card at around 70-80 Celsius. ...

Advantages: low price and high performance Disadvantages: can't even imagine of
Price/performance is where it's at in the video card industry. After all, while many people may have the money to spend on a $200 video card, the vast majority of us can't afford $650 on a video card, especially with the rising gas prices, the high price of food at the supermarket and other factors. Looking at the 4850 from the $199 MSRP, the performance is nothing short of breathtaking. The HD4850 competes very well with the 8800GT from NVIDIA with ... ...where it beat the GTX280 even, but I consider that an anomaly brought about by AA not being enabled in the test, and not representative of actual performance just buy this or you will conceal
i am recommending its very stable and highly competitive in price and performance ...

Advantages: value for every penny you have put in. Disadvantages: a bit slow on higher end games
woohoo the 8600 GT is a great value for money card.
The 8600 Gt is agreat video card it help me build the cheapest rig that could play crysis at a decent frame rate at high settings costing abouth 500$ for the whole thing including a LCD monitor.
coming back to the card,
its been great so far running all games smoothly and with nvidia's support on newer and better drivers ,that makes this card a killer.
First of all it has DX10 support which ... ...it has a DVI and HD out for your great LCD screens for crystal clear visuals.
It gives great framerates for high end games like Crysis and Bioshock.
No heat problems and it can be overclocked.
it is really stable with no graphic crashes.
One bad thing is that you cant play some games like crysis at 'vey high ' settings as it begins to lag but this baby is a great work by nvidia.
verdict:
buy it dont think twice. its great value for money ...
