The Gold Card PCI 4 and PCI 8 are the first in a new family of high-performance asynchronous multiport I/O products. Offered in four and eight port configurations, this product family is capable of port speeds up to 921.6 Kbps. The Gold Card family uses the new Computone DASHE (Direct Access Serial Hardware Engine) PCI Engine to achieve the fastest speeds and the most efficient use of the PCI bus in asynchronous I/O boards today. The engine enhances the serial throughput, while reducing the workload on the operating system, thereby making the card more efficient. Targeted toward "Open Systems, " Microsoft NT Remote Access Services (RAS) and traditional multiport applications on Operating Systems such as SCO UNIX, the Gold Card family complements the capabilities of the latest generation of PCI based Pentium Systems. Based on the latest UART technology, the Gold Card family utilizes UARTs with 128 byte FIFOs. With advanced data stream flow control, data integrity can be maintained even at the highest serial speeds. The innovative DASHE PCI engine technology integrates the intelligence directly into the hardware and directly accesses and interfaces with the PCI bus enabling enhanced performance and efficiency at a significantly reduced price per port. The Gold Card four and eight port boards are available with full data set signal support using the 10 pin RJ interface. The eight-port board is also available in DB25, as either DTE or DCE interfaces. All Gold Card products are supplied with full surge protection on all signals for all ports.
