Genelec HT 205

The extremely compact HT205 is a powerful bi-amplified system ideal for small to medium sized home theater rooms or stereo listening environments. The speaker has very rugged and stylish cast aluminum construction and magnetic shielding is standard. The vented speaker enclosure contains an amplification unit, including an active electronic crossover, overload protection circuitry and two power amplifiers, one for each driver. Even this entry-level model has Genelec's unique Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) for excellent stable imaging and frequency balance, even in difficult acoustic environments. Its' performance is comparable to much larger conventional passive speakers (110 dB SPL at 1 meter for a pair). The versatile room response controls allow matching of the system to its surroundings. For such a tiny box, the HT205 has excellent LF extension (-3dB at 68Hz) for most applications, although a subwoofer is necessary for 5.1 usage. The speakers may be used in vertical or horizontal orientations. They are tapped for an OmniMount 50 series plate so that they can be mounted on walls or ceilings and make ideal side or rear speakers for a Genelec surround system.
