Garmin nuvi 350

Advantages: nice screen choice of pleasant voices updates avail.
Disadvantages: comes with 2007 map update request 2008 installed

...would want in a GPS. Garmin 350 came out on top, surprisingly over it's new and improved 360 model. Tom-Tom and Magellan were also on my short list with magellan dropping out rapidly. as for fast satellite acquisition time...you will travel 3 or 4 miles before acquiring the maps, now is that quick enough for you? It works for me since I drive from a small town to a larger town regularly, I pretty much don't need "Instantaneous" mapping. Reception ...
...rather than connecting to the garmin site. A lot of country roads in my area have been renamed and Garmin 2007 maps (included) do not reflect those name changes. As for a GPS that can do it's job .... the 350 is a fine example of technology at its best. on a scale of 1-10, it gets a very SOLID 8.5. ...that after I bought the Garmin Nuvi 350. The best advantage about the Garmin Nuvi 350 is its interface. Its design is simple to understand and its very easy to use. Its very compact, (able to fit in my breast pocket) and it uses Text-to-Speech which announces the PROPER street names which other GPS systems have trouble doing so. I have had this GPS for over a year and I love it. It is fast, easy to operate, big buttons, lots of options(MP3, directions, ETC) It charges quickly, plays pretty good music, and the real reason for it...gets you to where you need to go. Except for one time, I haven't had to change course to reach a destination. My husband and I have had this GPS for over two years and can therefore vouch for the unit's reliability. Whether we are walking (you can set it to "walk") or driving, the unit has given faultless directions and even better maps. Maps are updated regularly so we have not had to buy another GPS. Its small size and handy pouch means it can be disguised as a wallet and put in your pocket. The only problem is that if you turn the GPS off before arriving at your location, it can be slow to acquire satellites when you start up again. Overall however, it is a great unit and a bargain at this price. I recommend it.

The nuvi 350 is very user friendly with giving you audio step by step turns and letting you know if you missed a turn. I have had mine for two years and will not go anywhere without it.
