Advantages: Gets you places without getting lost! Disadvantages: None
This is a pretty good GPS for it's price. I got to use this GPS a little while ago and I was pretty pleased with it.
When you put in an address, it will give you the quickest way to get there and will not confuse you like some other GPSs would.
This device is not too big which is great to keep it in a bag or in the car somewhere when you are not using it. The screen is pretty sensitive, so you might want to go slow on it or you might press other ... ...only thing I did not like was, the first day we used this in my friends car it would not stay on the windshield, it kept falling. But later on he got it in a way that it would not fall, that is the only thing that bothered me about it but now it is fine.
I recommend this GPS to everyone, it is not very expensive and is easily used. ...

Advantages: small, portable, color screen, easy view, time till arrival Disadvantages: does not speak street names
This was a replacement unit for me, as the first gps I received did not power up. After having this particular model for 6 months, I couldn't be happier with it and the price was too good to be true! The clarity of the screen and roads is great. We live out "in the woods" and for the most part the satellite reception is pretty good (better than our cell service!) This model is also completely portable. I suppose you could even take it for 'walking' ... ...to the lighter to be fully functional AND it is small enough to fit into your back pocket or purse. The other nice thing about this unit is that it has a removable suction cup to mount the unit to your windshield wherever the individual driver is most comfortable! The ONLY downside, that I see, and its really not that bad is that it doesn't speak the street names, but again, the price more than makes up for this. The other nice thing about this unit ...

Advantages Cheap compared to other brands, small, easy to operate Disadvantages no mains charger supplied
...I have been after a Sat Nav with built in European Maops for some time now as I am planning a road trip around Europe later in the year for my honeymoon.
My first instinct was to go for a Tomtom as currently it is the most well known Sat Nav on the market and everyone you ask seems to own/recommend them. However I thought i'd try and save myself a few quid by taking a chance on one of the other manufacturers, and I stumbled upon the Garmin at a good price in Carphone warehouse one day.
The first thing that struck me was at how easy the Garmin was to use - testament to this being an instruction book containing only a few pages which you don't expect when buying gadgets these days! Having owned and used the product considerably over the last 4 weeks I am very impressed, and to me is just as good as a tomtom and am sure it will get...

Advantages Touch-screen, USB, Card-slot, Mapsource compatability Disadvantages Bad maps, immediate next turn direction, no variable POI proximity,
...Edit: My review here is based on the Nuvi-250 (non-widescreen version).
I bought one of these recently as my old ipaq-based TomTom is getting more outdated each day and there doesn't seem to be a reasonably-priced way to update it. I have to say I was expecting better.
The manual is small because there aren't as many features as you get with TomTom. For example TomTom allows you to set the distance between your POI and it's alert sounding. This Garmin seems to sound the alert at it's own preset distance warning which you can't change from the menu system.
It also seems to take a while to find the satellites. We went to our local park on saturday which is about a mile from home and we were practically on the car-park before it locked on. The worst part though was how innacurate the maps seem to be. On one trip, It didn't have...
