Advantages Compact, Ease of readability

...probably every 3 hours when flying, so investing in the power cord is a must. You'll also need a Data Cable from Garmin for the specific model which works out fairly expensive after a while. Now though I use it mainly for use in my car, it's has the same functions as the 3 Plus but is alot mor precise than the non - aviation version. As a budget Moving Map GPS it don't think it can be beaten if you overlook the fact that it is nearly 10 years old and still has a black and white screen.... Read review

...a portable unit your looking at something such as the Garmin IQUE or the Garmin Street Pilot III (both featured on the Ciao website also). The IQUE is a street level GPS with the addition of a PDA at around the £590 mark while the Street Pilot is a specific GPS unit and around the £650 mark upwards. Both units are portable, colour screen and talk to you. There is an advantage to a portable unit. For instance, you take your car into service you can put it in the hire car. Also you can remove it from the car so if the car gets stolen your unit doesn’t. And finally you can walk around with the unit in the country side allowing you to use it as one of the cheaper units would be used. If you want a fitted unit your looking around anything from about £1000 upwards. Really you need to go to a specialist installer who would then be able... Read review
