This is a dog GPS system, originally made, for hunters to keep track of thier dogs during the hunt.
But I find this is handy, if your a hiker or anyone who has a dog , who likes to explore some.
It has a radio transmitter with a short and very durable antenna , which sits on the dogs collar on the top of the neck.
You ,the owner has the matching transponder, to track the signal and thus find your wandering friend.
The unit has long range capablility and can get bumped and wet and go through bush and survive, whatever your dog will put it through.
For someone who has never used a GPS before, i would reccomend you practicing with it, say in a small park first, as the screen can be difficult to read, till you get the hang of it.
I hope someday for dogs to be able to GPS chips, like their id chips, to help locate our friends, until then, if you hunt or have a wanderer, this is for you.
It is pricey, but can you put a cost on a loyal friend?
