Advantages: Quick routing, bright readable screen, customizable, good quality build Disadvantages: Terrible Menu system, hard to change setting
I used 720 for over 6 months of daily usage this is what you need to know. The screen is bright and clear 4.3" LCD touch screen and very easy to read. The screen is customizable, you can download different map colors, customize the readout info, eta, arrival time, etc.. Routing is quick and generally accurate occasionally the routing will not be the optimum way to go , but the final destination is usually 95% accurate. Miss a turn and a new route ... ...software the 720 will update itself with the latest map corrections, a nice feature. Battery life is about 4 hours at 75% brightness setting. The 720 has a SiRFstarIII chipset which very fast acquiring signals. Rarely did I lose a signal. Now the bad part, the menu layout sucks finding the right menu to change a setting is NOT easy compared to garmin nuvi. Overall a very good unit ...

Advantages: Accurate, friendly, system itself is excellent Disadvantages: Couldn't find one yet
I was amazed. It was excellent in almost every way. The accuracy was perfect, the interference is friendly, and the step-by-step direction system was easy to understand. If you accidently go the wrong way, in 5 seconds it finds a new road for you. I get lost easily, but after I bought this, the worries were gone completely. Once, I was going in a way that I had gone few times but it was very unfamiliar. One day the road was on construction. I was ...

GARMIN GPSMAP 96
I was chatting with an aviation chum the other day about the pros and cons of the various GPS units out there. Due to parkinsonism I no longer fly and learned at a time when GPS for the private pilot was a mere gleam in its inventors eye! A lot of pilots are very sceptical that newbies are relying far too much on GPS systems for navigation, rather than building on the basics (wizz-wheel, maps etc) so that they encounter difficulty ... ...right as my friend, who is a learner of this new-school, told me that without the basics the use of GPS is like cooking with a microwave without knowing about flavour, i,e,, it can be done but isn't really worthwhile.
This GPS unit (see the manufacturers spec for full description of what it can do) is, I am told, extremely easy to use with a very user-friendly interface. It has multiple way-points and comes pre-loaded with the Jeppesen database ...
