Cheap and Easy to Use Magellan
Review of Magellan Maestro 3100 by
katimn
Advantages: Turn by turn directions, clear maps, easy to use
Disadvantages: Touch screen does not work well
Cheap, has been a good investment. Can't imagine driving without one. Even if you don't program an address its nice to have a map in front of you. Can be used while plugged into your lighter or you can just carry it with you as long as the battery is charged. Tells miles per hour. Turn by turn directions are clear. Good maps. Easy to use. Have been using it for over a year now. Works well as long as there is no road work. Works best in urban areas. ...

Magellan Maestro 4000
Review of Magellan Maestro 4000 by

Advantages: easy to use, good design and bright touch screen
Disadvantages: none
I have owned this Magellan Maestro 4000 GPS for three months. This is a very easy to use GPS system. It has all the features you would look for in a GPS system and it starts working within 10 minutes of you receiving it. It's very accurate, and despite some attempts on my part to throw it off, it recalculated routes very quickly and set up new routes. The touch screen keypad is also simple to use and you can locate an address in just a few keystrokes, ... ...Has a cool mode that shows you your average and max speeds on a trip, along with distance traveled and distance to go, as well as time moving and stopped. It is easy download of updated software from internet. The 3D view is much better than the map view. I love the voice prompts feature. I can get into songs on the radio/CD player and it beeps and tells me my turn is coming. That is great for absent-minded people like me. Anyway, it is a great machine; ...

Magellan Roadmate 2000 an ok GPS
Review of Magellan RoadMate 2000 by
areyes
Advantages: Price - Good value
Disadvantages: Trouble with some maps and menus
The Magellan Roadmate 2000 is great, but some of the streets are outdated and the directory does not find some common businesses. I had a hard time finding the categories for certain places. I previously had the Navman and it is a little better and the directions are better than this model. This model does not really give you the shortest or fastest distance. I found relying on my knowledge of the city instead and only using the Roadmate as a guide ... ...a good model though since some other models are very pricey and have the same options as this one. I recommend this model if you are really bad with directions, but otherwise, you might want to spend more on another model or go to Radio Shack and get the Navman for about the same price as this one. ...

Lost? .. Not anymore!
Review of Magellan eXplorist 210 by

Advantages: Small, Water Resistant, Memory for more maps, Simple to use.
Disadvantages: Black and white, Slow startup, Battery life.
I would not recommend for car use although great for off-road and hiking.
This very portable GPS has been great for me. I use it mainly for geocaching and tracking my hikes. It comes with a basic map (pretty useless) installed and you can buy or download more detailed maps.
I bought a topographic map of Canada for mine which gives me more then enough detail including: gas stations, parks, shops and tons more.
This device will tell you your direction, ... ...level, ETA (if you set a destination), points of interest, bearing and more.
You can also save your trip and view it on your computer, including the speed you were traveling.
You can create routes and save them or use the course that you just took to mark and find your way back.
For geocaching this is an excellent tool and has been way worth the money I paid. I will not be replacing this GPS unit for a good number of years. ...
