What a great item and well made!! This is a dog GPS system, originally made, for hunters to keep track of thier dogs during the hunt. But I find this is handy, if your a hiker or anyone who has a dog , who likes to explore some. It has a radio transmitter with a short and very durable antenna , which sits on the dogs collar on the top of the neck. You ,the owner has the matching transponder, to track the signal and thus find your wandering friend. ...

For someone who has never used a GPS before, i would reccomend you practicing with it, say in a small park first, as the screen can be difficult to read, till you get the hang of it. Garmin produce quality GPS systems, but for some reason have fallen behind the competition, and I am not sure why this is so. It is as accurate as any other unit on the market. The maps are clear and concise, and the satellite pickup on start-up, fairly rapid, which is the downfall of many other comparable units. Its very large 4.9 inch screen is certainly an advantage as well as the inbuilt dual speakers, which really do help you to hear instructions ...
...a voice recognition of superb quality. That does not require training, to improve the accuracy of allowing you to navigate the unit by spoken commands. A great GPS. The large screen is really nice. It calculaters your route based on shortest time or shortest distance. Will automatically recalculate the route if you experience road construction or pit stop. Shows speed limits and ETAs. Will also locate nearby businesses based on category.
