Manufacturer's product description
NEX ia is a feature-packed digital audio player that gives you an infinite digital audio listening gratification. With its powerful digital signal processor, firmware upgradeability and memory expansion capability, NEX ia is the ultimate portable player that truly brings its users an infinite audio experience. NEX ia is infinite Audio. NEX ia contains no moving parts. Music is stored digitally inside the flash memory cards instead of cassette tape or compact discs. Therefore NEX ia is both light and shock resistant and a perfect companion during exercise and outdoor activities. NEX ia follows on the heels of the revolutionary NEX II/IIe. Like its predecessor, NEX ia continues to use removable Compact Flash or the Microdrive memory card as its storage medium, giving you as a user maximum flexibility and expandability. NEX ia also incorporates a built-in FM tuner and voice recording facility. You can now not only listen to your favorite digital music but also listen to FM radio and use NEX ia for recording purposes.

Advantages Small & long battery life Disadvantages small buttons and a complicated file structure
...The NexiA is a well priced player and although may not be top notch in sound quality or features, is very successful I providing value for money.
-Physical Size-
The player itself is quite small, even with its fabric case on, allowing it to easily fit into a pocket. It makes use of its space in the positioning of buttons and sockets etc. in easy to access area. Despite its fairly small size, it is not small enough to easily loose and can fit comfortably into your hand. It is however heavy for its size, largely due to being powered by 2 AA batteries.
It is made from a strong white plastic which could look cheap but protects it well from scratches. It also has a tendency to look like a cheap ipod.
-Features & Storage-
The player itself supports MP3 and WMA format, with OGG being introduced in an update. The playback depends...

Advantages Uses compact flash cards for storage. Disadvantages Larger and heavier than some mp3 players.
.... FrontierLabs also do a non-"plus" model, but for the few extra pounds the "plus" model is more worthwhile. Another model is the NEXKube, which is a bit smaller and only costs £39.00, but has no LCD display....

Advantages Very small for Data Capacity, Fast Transfer Rate Disadvantages Drains Batteries, Moving parts

The problem with these small disks is that of course they need small motors too, and these in turn do use up a lot more power than solid state memory. This is noticeable, were in my mp3 player the battery is stated to last twice as long with a CF card rather than a Microdrive.
The next best thing of all is that you needn’t pay £175 for one of these; you can, as I did, get one for only £139 with an mp3 player! You need to look for the NEXIA+ by FrontierLabs, it’s a great little player suited perfectly to the drive. I think there may however, be some issues with the drive’s compatibility in camera’s, when I tried it in my friend’s Cannon Powershot A75 the card did not fit as it was too deep for the slot, so I’m not too sure what...
