There are two things that are great about storing leftovers. First off it can save you time for the times that you are going to be rushed. The other thing that I really like is that it can save you money. You buy stuff on sale and then freeze it. This is a great way to save money.

There are various ways that people freeze foods. Some people will wrap in plastic bags or tin foil or a combination of the two. There are also vacuum sealing machines such as the food saver. One thing that I have been using and like is the glad handy vac. You get a vacuum sealer that is handheld and some bags. Whichever method you use it saves lots of dough when you can buy stuff on sale. You see prices in the section that is marked for "quick sale" that is good since you can freeze it. I have gotten $7 steak for $2.50 marked down that expired the next day. I took that home froze it and good to go for at least 2 or more months.

You can freeze most things. Just about any type of meat or fish in the raw freezes well. You also can freeze most vegetables. I personally do not like very many vegetables that are frozen fresh to reuse later, but I do have friends who swear by it. The exception would be if you put some cooked veggies together kind of like a mix for latter. Like if you cook some bell pepper, onion and ham for western omelets and freeze the meat and veggies. When you cook it all you add are eggs and cheese and you have breakfast. I just let it sit out overnight in the fridge and am usually good to go. Some other things that I often freeze are cooked fajita mix (veggies and meat), cheese steak (onion and steak), and taco meat. You can also freeze sandwiches. I personally have not had luck with this. Once after a Christmas party I was given some leftover meatballs and rolls. I put them on rolls broke out the handivac and then good to go. It was decent but not super. One finally tip on freezing is that most of the stuff you cook and freeze will taste horrible micro waved. You will still want to throw it in a skillet to get a taste. I tried microwaving spaghetti and meatballs from a food saver bag. It was horrible. It needs to go in a sauce pan. Now Gumbo taste fine from one. It really depends on the food.

Also I started out using the food saver, but I will say that I think the handy vac is much more user friendly and it also seems cheaper to operate. The one thing I have not been able to get the hang out of is reusing the bags. I was told that you could but have not seen this turn out well yet. Hope this helps with saving money and time. Sometimes I can make a weeks or two worth of lunches doing this.
