Fort Minor are a rap group, led by Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda, the Japanese rapper, guitarist, pianist and artist! The group have some awesome songs, their best in my opinion being "remember the name". This song really displays the quality of song that can still be achieved without a singer, and the lyrics really mean something.
They are a hip hop/ rap group, who are light to listen to, with some catchy beats, nothing special or too hard on ...

Advantages: Meaningful lyrics. Disadvantages: As far as I can tell, there's only one CD...
...I'm happy to say that Fort Minor isn't all about that. In fact, they usually have some good meaningful lyrics.
Mike Shindoa broke off from Linkin Park and formed his own band, Fort Minor. When I first popped his CD in I learned that he's a very talented man. His beats are pretty nice and his wordplay is pretty sweet. I recommend "Remember the Name", "Kenji" (about his Japanese family during WW2), "Where'd you Go", "Cigarettes", "In Stereo" (such ...

Advantages: Great lyrics to songs. Disadvantages: Fairly unoriginaly musically, not much of a 'group'
...rap game, creating the fantastic Fort Minor group.
In a sense this is all fairly unoriginal, a decent beat, and some rappers talknig in a 'cool' way. But this is Mike Shindoa, and his words aren't just 'any old' lyrics, they are creative, inspiring and are unmatched in terms of his rap competition.
Seeing mike going solo with his own rap crew really lets us see his personal rapping talents in a better way than when he is with Linkin Park. His songs ... ...They're about the road to fame, some are baout him as a person (kenji|), and all have great meanings to them.
One thing I would say is that often Mike overshadows the other Fort minor members, as they don't really rap that much.
Overall great new rap group. ...

Advantages great rapping, well composed, good lyrics Disadvantages none I think - it is Mike Shinoda!! ^___^
...I absolutely love this album! Mike Shinoda sounds great (and I saw him live in London and he was brilliant live). The album (track listing at the bottom) starts with the catchy Remember the Name, guaranteed to get you to remember FortMinor. Right now is a weaker song compared to others on the album, nevertheless good. Petrified is a great song with a good base - need to crank up your stereo for this one. Feel like home is the latest released single - featuring a great promotional video - and is really sad. Holly Brook's voice is amazing and the lyrics really evoke some emotions, especially with the war and people leaving home to fight. In stereo, back hom and cigarettes give good variations within the album. Song number 10 - Believe Me - is the best song of the album. FortMinor's first released single, this is really worth...

A great debut

Advantages A surprisingly good album Disadvantages Not perfect
...FortMinor is the group formed by Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda (he was the MC/rapper). Despite this, The Rising Tied is not specifically for fans of Linkin Park (although fans of Linkin Park enjoy is especially). Mike Shinoda creates a fresh new sound using a combination of instruments and technology (no samples) making a fantastic album.
There are few limits to he subjects mentioned on the album, the topics range from Mike Shinoda's experiences at the start-up of Linkin Park (Get Me Gone), the game that is rap (Cigarettes), to the everyday experiences of people (Right Now). FortMinor also describes the experiences that the Japanese people in America were subjected to during World War II (Kenji).
In addition to fantastic lyrics, The Rising Tied features a range of other artists that add to the greatness of the songs thay...

Remember The Name
Review of Rising Tied, The (Parental Advisory/+DVD) [PA] - FortMinor by

Advantages Originality Disadvantages not sure as yet
...This is just a test review for the moment, I need to become more familiar with the album before I can become more in-depth.
FortMinor is the solo project of Linkin Park emcee Mike Shinoda. In a break from his nu-metal background with Linkin Park, Mike takes to the hip-hop scene with producer Jay-Z. He brings his enormous talent and flair for originality along with him.
Featuring acts such as Common, Black Thought, Styles of Beyond and Kenna. Mike stresses that being a solo act doesn't necessarily mean being alone.
Some of the most notable songs on the album are:
Remember The Name
Mike kicks off his solo career with a bang, with live cello players providing the accompaniment. Any cello players out there who would wish to emulate the intro to this song would find it impossible, as Mike needed to hire four of them, and record...
