Advantages: huge network, easy to keep in touch with friends and family Disadvantages: non selective membership, too many applications, addictive
I have a love hate relationship with facebook. I'm the type of person that rarely calls people to talk, yet I want to keep up to date on what's going on in the lives of my friends and family. This program is great for me because it makes it easy for me to know what major events are happening with my friends and it lets me stay in touch. It's probably lame that for some of my friends my only communication is on their facebook wall, but it's easy and ... ...in college and I find it to be a very appropriate way to communicate with my busy friends, so that they can respond when they have time. When I first started using face book I was obsessive compulsive about it. I would spend hours on it daily, inviting every person I'd ever met to be a friend, and going through other people's profiles with a fine tooth comb to learn everything about them. For me, the obsession slowly faded and I now have a healthy ...

Advantages: Applications, Expansive base, Constant updates Disadvantages: Loss of privacy, Annoying updates, Poor for blogging
I visit Facebook every day to check up on what my friends are doing and to share photos from my daily life. The Best:
1. Applications. Almost anything is possible. Outside companies create "applications" that can be added to your page. These are the ones I use most often: *Photos-you can create albums of photos uploaded from a computer, or sent from a phone. You can also add "tags" to your photos to point out your friends. This way when someone ... ...people pictured, they can see the names of anyone in your facebook friends.
*Games-that you can play among friends. I've tried the Scramble (similar to Boggle) and another game that was discontinued for being to close to Scrabble. It's great to be able to play these types of games with friends across the world. *Graffitti-this let's you draw a very basic design (or complex, as you can see by some of the examples on the site). You can then post it ...

Advantages: Simple, no-spam, personal Disadvantages: You can not create your layout for profile
I have been trying quite a few network social sites, mostly in order to keep up with my old friends and classmates since the time (and distance) does not allow me to interact with them as often as i would wish too.
And to be honest I disliked most of them, mainly because I was always getting hundreds of invites to be friend with people around the globe, with whom I have absolutely nothing in common and our online friendship will only base on glittery ... ...do find these comments nice though).
Facebook on the other hand is different. You can make the site as you will not receive invitations to be friend with people you definitely do not know. You will be only suggested to be friends with your friends friends, so no more invites like: Hi, you look hot...
Interacting with friends is simple and fun. You can send messages, chat, join groups (for example high school, political...), play games, give virtual ...

Advantages: Great for storing photos Disadvantages: I have heard that people can get hold of your personal info
Facebook is a social site that has been in existence since the early 2000 and though it was originally created for college students to interact with each other, pretty much anybody can join and be part of the community. I originally signed on as a member after reading about the website on the Washington Post. The company itself makes money from the adds that you see on the site as you navigate from one area to another. I believe the concept is the ... ...that facebook gets I legitmate click on the ads, they are paid a certain amount. There is a way for Google to find out if for example Facebook decides to get people to click on the adds on its site just for clicking sake. Google would immediately find out. Signing on with Facebook is easy. You have to provide a legitimate email address from which you would link back for comfirmation and completion of the application process. Once you have done this ...

Advantages: Fun, free and keeps you in touch with everyone Disadvantages: Can be addictive!
...lot when asking people about facebook.com - people who are members tend to love the site and get a bit addicted to it. So what is it and what makes people all over the world addicted to this site?
Facebook:
It is a social network site the same as myspace or bebo, where by social network I mean a site that allows you to communicate and share your life with your friends, family and colleagues. It is also not that unlike a blog as users record the ... ...albums or general information on themselves.
Sign me up!
To sign up you just need to have an email address and set yourself a password. On the front homepage the link is there to sign up and this literally takes a minute or two. Once you've done this you are ready to set up your own personal profile! A plus is it's all free!! Yippee!
How do I do that?
Facebook is aptly named because people can 'view' your face on there and see who you are - hence ...

Advantages Can get in contact with long lost friends Disadvantages Confusing and annoying
...www.facebook.com < Yes I kept getting emails from people asking me to join this social networking website, and about two - three weeks ago I was bored and thought why not join. In my own opinion I prefer Bebo because it's so much easier to use then Facebook. However, Facebook is a good social networking place and allows you to find friends that you may of lost contact with. Anyway have a read and see how you feel about Facebook afterwards.
About FacebookFacebook was first launched on the internet in 2004. It was created by Mark Zuckerberg. He created a social networking website that allowed people to talk with other people (similar to Myspace, Bebo, Hi5 etc). Before September 2006, only certain schools, colleges and universities were allowed to sign up to Facebook, however now all email addresses have been allowed...

Advantages Everything Disadvantages Can't think of any
...Facebook.com this is a website used by many people for meeting new friends, finding old friends, networking and other things.
I have used myspace.com and bebo.com and facebook wins hands down.
Facebook has applications that can be added to your profiles...just daft applications like: car racing, bike racing, coolest friends, hottest friends and loads and loads and loads more.
Facebook is perfect for keeping in touch with all your old friends from school and from work.
It is used by a wide range of people no matter what colour, religion or sexuality.
You can add pictures and tag friends in them and you can be tagged in pictures from your friends when they add pictures.
Unlike bebo and myspace you don't need to use HTML as everyones profile is the same...well apart from applications people add on to profiles, but it does ask...

Advantages Great to contact people for free!! Disadvantages Damn addictive
...To be honest friend networks never really interest me. I managed to escape the whole 'bebo' thing that went on a few years ago pretty unscathed. However, every morning for the past few months I have got a new email from one friend or another asking me to join facebook.com- yet another friendship network. However, this one seems to work- and after a few weeks of being on it now I understand why.
Facebook is instantly addictive. I joined on a Monday and by the Wednesday I had added everyone from my course and all the people I live with to my friends list. Your page isn't private, anyone can add you as a friend, and you just have to confirm that you know them. This meant that by the Friday I had added friends of friends of friends, who in reality I hardly knew at all. Instant surprise is gained when a long lost friend gets in touch. I...

...Myspace.com was my gate way drug. When I first got AIM and really got into the internet scene (age 10ish), Myspace.com was the place to be. All of my friends had it and I always opposed it. Finally I joined and found it to be quite addicting. At first I loved how you could customize things are rate your friends... it was a blast. Then people started getting mad for me having them to low on my top friends and the whole thing was a mess. Then my next complaint was people being able to warp their page and make it as confusing as possible. Then I found facebook.com and haven't looked at my myspace since. It just seems like 90% of my friends have moved to facebook. All in all myspace to me is old news....

Advantages: New Look, Applications, Better Networking Tools Disadvantages: Just another Social Network
...Background:
I came across this social networking site about a couple of years back. When I first was invited by a friend to join this site, I didn't like the site's appearance and overall the way it looked. After that I didn't visit the site much. Meanwhile other strong social networks like Orkut, facebook, etc were making their way to the top. Hi5.com was forgotten. It was a week ago when I received another friend request from hi5.com and suddenly I felt like visiting the network again.
New Experience for me:
I actually jumped in the chair to see how the site has improved its look n feel and other functionalities. Hi5.com was a different website for better. Today, almost every social network site has a strong influence by orkut and facebook. Hi5.com is not an exception to this 'rule' either.
When you sign...
