The female vocalist has an interesting voice, and an amazing range. Her voice colour is very cold and sad, which suits their type of music, which is more to the "emo" side than anything, meaning that she can powerfully ...

Advantages: great music, awesome vocals Disadvantages: similar to evanescence
...I tend to normally prefer heavy metal bands with male singers, because I like the harshness and deepness of the voice, however this band has captured more of an evanesecence feel, with their stunning female singer, who has an amazing range and colour of voice.
Their music is awesome, and is definately better than what evanescence has tried to achieve, which is very very similar to this band, almost identical, and whats more? The singers sound identical to eachother, which is really strange.
When I first heard within temptation, I thought it was evanescence, and commented on the video, saying that it was wrongly labelled, but I then realised I had stumbled across a new awesome band.
I definately reccomend listening to this band. they have some good music!...

...I recently saw flyleaf, when they were touring with Korn on the 'Bitch we got a problem' tour, at the Manchester Apollo, January 2008. I cannot express how soul less this band really are. They came on stage after the biggest hype i have ever seen in my life. Then there appeared this girl in a white dress who frankly looked about twelve (the lead singer) who whined on with the most appauling lyrics i have ever heard in my life.
All of the songs sound the same, and far from trying to be evanescence, and failing miserably, they frankly made me feel quite depressed by the time i left the gig.
The band was actually booed off of stage, in which the lead singer didnt even say goodbye or thankyou, dragging her mic stand behind her. There is no way this band have any kind of future. I wouldn't even go and see them again if it was free!...

Advantages: Good for Evanescence fans Disadvantages: May be bad even for Evanescense fans
...I don't have too much experience with Flyleaf, but I have heard a half-dozen of their songs. I'm still not convinced I like them that much, or that they'll make it too far.
Their sound is pretty much Evanescence trying to be hard-core, but coming up kind of short. I don't know, there's just something about the lead singer's voice that keeps me from really getting into them, and don't find the backing music all that complex.....And I happen to love girl-fronted bands, especially hard rock or metal chicks.
I do, however, think that "I'm So Sick" is good noise, and the video they did for/with World of Warcraft was pretty cool.
But, at the same time, my friends karaoke version of it is almost better....
