...down the vacuum aisle, these Dyson vacuums really stand out among all the other brands. The only thing I knew about Dyson at the time was that supposedly they never loose suction. I am a sucker for anything that looks cool and / or High Tech, so I decided to give this Dyson a try. I figured I could keep the receipt and if I didn't like it, I could always take it back. I paid $549.00 for this particular model. When I got this home and started taking ... ...it was empty. This Dyson is called the Animal because it includes a carpet care kit, mini turbine head and a low reach floor tool for getting into tight spaces. Advantages: superb at picking up pet hair Disadvantages: none that I have experienced
I did a lot of research on this vacuum before I purchased it. After all, most sane people don't spend $500+ on a vacuum. I previously owned a Eureka that simply stopped working one day. It wasn't doing that great of a job picking up the hair from my 2 cats on my wool rugs so I decided not to try to have it repaired and just invest in a really good vacuum. Because of my cats I really needed a vacuum that would stand up to pet hair. I did some research ... ...that has ever happened to pet owners. I gave in and purchased it and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's easy to use and maneuver, comes with tons of attachments, and leaves nothing behind other than my carpets themselves. I agonized over the purhase of such an expensive vacuum. But I can truthfully say I am in love with it.
It works just as claimed both the company I purchassed it from Hammacher Schlemmer Co and the Dyson Company cannot do more to help with any problem.
I have three cats one Maine Coon long hair. Hair is a constant problem. but not since I got my Dyson.
My only complaint is that it does not have a carry bag or pouch to hold all the attachments that is the biggest design flaw and my only compplaint.

Wow! I ordered mine, brand-new, on E-bay for $380 (including shipping) and LOVE it! I have a large dog (St. Bernard) and hair has been a constant problem in the past. I wish I had bought this the day I got her.
