I purchased my Whirlpool Steam Washer & Dryer in November 2007 when they first came out. I am extremely happy with my investment. My clothes are coming out great. My electric bill has come down. And most of all the time it takes me to wash & dry my clothes now is much quiker than with my old ones. Also, my clothes comes out looking like new. We knew we didn't want to own another Kenmore or Fridgidaire product again (they were the actual manufacturer of the dryer). But we only needed to replace the dryer and the dryer needed to have specific qualities: to have a large enough capacity to dry all the clothes that our washer could wash (which was A LOT) and have a door that opened to the right. I bought this dryer in October. So far I love it. It dries well, it isn't too loud, and it has lots of different drying cycles from which to choose. It is big, however -- depth wise. I didn't count on that when I bought it. You need to measure the depth of the dryer -- but then make sure you count extra room for the hose out the back to ensure you have enough room to fit it into the space in which you are trying to fit it. Plan on an extra 4-5 inches ...
...get the pedestal (an extra $110 bucks -- which is ridiculous for a metal box) or have someone build you a pedestal upon which to put your washer dryer before you have them installed. Just remember, however, that the matching washer is a top loader -- not a front loader -- so don't go too high or you won't be able to see inside the washer. ... Read review
