...So you have just bought your new Nintendo Wii. You have frantically swung your shiney new wii remote like a tennis racket. But somehow this amazing peice of new gaming technology, with its slightly retro looking graphics will also make you realise just how far gaming has developed. Wii sports is a far cry from the original classics of super mario bros and donkey Kong. Luckily for us (and Nintendo's accountants) the wii also contains a virtual console, where you can download all the old nintendo and sega classics for a small(ish) fee. ...And so it's come to this, a series of reviews about games released on the Wii's Virtual Console. First up, is the so-far, Europe exclusive Donkey Kong Country. Donkey Kong, like Mario, is one of Nintendo's flagship characters, and you'd expect it to be of a high quality. The first in the series to get a VC release is Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, released in 1994. Available from the Wii's day of release in Europe, December 8th, if you ask me, it's definitely worth 800 of your Wii Points! You play as both Donkey and Diddy Kong, and you can switch between the different Apes once they are reunited.
