Having three kids, two dogs, four birds and lots of company, believe me! I needed a vacuum for every day use just to keep on top of the dirt. We shopped around. Finally on advice from a helpful sales person, this is the vacuum we bought.
The price was right. The efficiency was just what I needed. It is sized right to fit in the closet as well as in a corner of the dining area.Light weight also. The cord, without measuring it, is about 15 feet long. It is not retractable but wraps up easily to the hooks on the back of the vacuum.
It is easy to empty, although this can be a messy job because of all the fine lint and dirt this vacuum picks up. I usually just rinse the cup out if I'm done using the vacuum and let it air dry. The filter is removable also for cleaning. The attachments for edge cleaning are convenient to switch back and forth from floor to edges and corners. They also attach to the back of the vacuum so you don't have to search for them when needed. Honestly, I use this vacuum every day if needed. It's easy and efficient.
I also own a Kirby that I am going to be paying on for the rest of my life. I use that once a week and prior to steam cleaning the carpet. But in the meantime, this little Dirt Devil does a great job picking up dog hair and bird feathers. With summer time here, my dogs are shedding badly. This vacuum is a lifesaver!
