Advantages: Great picture, sound, quality,
Disadvantages: loss of connection at times
My old satellite tv broke so therfore dish nework sent us this one, it was very easy to set up and of course had to go through some programing. I highly recommend this product it works like a charm there has been the worst storms and hail and weather and i hardly ever to never lose any connection. Theres an up and down button on the base so if you were to lose the remote you are still able to flip through chanels and turn the satellite on and off. ...

 DirecTV? Good, but not great...

Advantages: simple, compatible with most systems, decent remote features
Disadvantages: menus not intuitive, phone line required for PPV
...see the channels I purchased. DirecTV will show you all of them, but will only let you know if a channel is not available when you actually try and tune into it. Marketing at its best, maybe, but not something I enjoy. DirecTV is also much more dependent on a dedicated phone line than is Dish Network. We chose not to plug the phone line in due to some problems with our other unit, and so PPV movies are out.
Still, for what you pay for, the D11 receiver ...
