Advantages: Great for out doors Disadvantages: none yet
This camera, along with looking good, is pretty cheap for its quality. It's great for taking along hiking or camping; this is primarily an outdoor camera. It takes okay indoors, but much better outdoors. The flash settings aren't the best, but when the flash is turned off is when you get the best quality from this camera. As a photographer, I use this camera mostly for the outdoors, but on occasion I have used it for family holidays and other indoor ...

Advantages: Easy to use, well constructed Disadvantages: Little additional features from D40x
...its predecessor, the new entry-level Nikon D60 DSLR camera is virtually identical to the D40x model that it replaces. The D60 has the same external design, 10.2 megapixel sensor, ISO range of 100 to 3200, 3 point auto-focus system, 3D Colour Matrix Metering II, 3fps continuous shooting speed and 2.5 inch LCD screen as the D40x. All of the important changes are therefore internal. Nikon have implemented the same EXPEED image processing engine that ... ...finds out if the new Nikon D60 is worth considering.
Ease of Use
When you first take the Nikon D60 out of its box, you can literally feel why this digital SLR is so cheap. Its all-plastic construction makes it very light, especially if you have used a more expensive DSLR before. The same is true of the supplied 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR kit lens, which again is made entirely of plastic, although it is a little more substantial than the standard 18-55mm, ...

Advantages: Great quaility, Beautiful Colors Disadvantages: Need to buy card seperatly to hold more pictures.
...very small and cute camera and I really recommend buying it! Nikon cameras are definitely the way to go if you want a good shot, better quality than any other, and beautiful colors, and for only about $750 it's better than any camera you have probably ever used before. ...

Advantages: Lightweight, Great Capture Disadvantages: Built in flash
I purchased the Nikon D40 in June of 2007. It is by far the most used camera in my fleet. Lightweight - yet perfectly capable of capturing anything! I use it for portraits, wedding photography, candids, landscapes, macro - name it. The built in flash works in a pinch, but I prefer the SB-600 Speedlight attached for anything that requires a flash. If you are looking into purchasing a nice lightweight, high performance digital SLR this is your best ... ...wouldn't bother buying anything more unless you could afford the Nikon D200, which in my opinion is the only camera that is a step up and worth the money. Great value for beginners, but impressive enough for the novice. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who loves photography. ...

Advantages: good pictures. Intelligent design. User friendly Disadvantages: low quality at high iso's.
This is a great camera for the price. It is not by any means a professional camera, but it is perfect for a photo enthusiast / ameatur photographer.
The kit lens is acceptable, but it is cheap and I would recommend that anyone wanting to take serious pictures, aspiring to be a professional or entering contests should spend the money to upgrade it right away. Soccer moms and snapshot takers should be more than satisfied.
The menu provides access ... ...up exactly the way you want it. There are also several easy to use automatic modes just as you would find on any snapshot camera, which makes things a lot simpler for a beginner. I have only one complaint: in very low light situations, it is hard to get a high quality picture without a tripod. The iso only goes up to 1600 and it starts to be incredibly noisy past 400. 800 is acceptable but I wouldn't try to make an 8X10 print with it, that's for ...
