This camera, along with looking good, is pretty cheap for its quality. It's great for taking along hiking or camping; this is primarily an outdoor camera. It takes okay indoors, but much better outdoors. The flash settings aren't the best, but when the flash is turned off is when you get the best quality from this camera. I purchased the Nikon D40 in June of 2007. It is by far the most used camera in my fleet. Lightweight - yet perfectly capable of capturing anything! I use it for portraits, wedding photography, candids, landscapes, macro - name it. The built in flash works in a pinch, but I prefer the SB-600 Speedlight attached for anything that requires a flash. If you are looking into purchasing a nice lightweight, high performance digital SLR this is your best ...
