Like the Canon, it offers a useful range of scene modes and support for photographers as they advance their skills, ... ...OS and VR lenses, all Sony lenses (which of course includes all Minolta lenses) benefit from the in-body shake reduction of the Sony.
At 5fps it is speedy, if a little behind the Nikon and Canon (6 and 6.3fps respectively) and at the extremes it is a little noisier in extreme conditions. The Olympus E-520 is a refreshed version of Olympus's upper-entry-level camera, the E-510. As such it's a slightly bulked-up E-420 with image stabilization, which makes it one of the most feature-packed and customizable cameras available for under $500. It loses some of its sibling's compact chic but offers a bigger, longer-lasting battery and a more familiar grip shape to those people familiar with contemporary DSLRs.
