This camera is good for the novice. You need to keep the instruction book open and ready to refer to though. I have found it to have very clear and concise instructions that are easy to follow. There were no 'red eyes' to touch up in the photos. I was able to start taking pictures within a few minutes of opening package. I love this camera. It has a bigger screen than my last one and when you tip it one way or the other the picture follows so it is never upside down or sideways. It only takes two double AA batteries unlike my last one that took four double AA batteries. The batteries seem to last longer and rechargeable ones even longer than that.
