Go for the Zoom
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Zoom by
ChocolateLady
Advantages: Feels like a real camera, lots of great zoom, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not crazy about viewfinder and uses 4xAA batteries
...And that's why I bought Fujifilm FinePix S5000 digital camera - because it not only has a 10x optical zoom, it also has a 2.2x digital zoom! Stick that into your pixels and mega it, baby! Of course, if the rest of the camera wasn't also good, I wouldn't be able to tell you more, so here goes.
Let me get the boring stuff out of the way here. This camera is a 3.1megapixel camera (but goes up to 6.6mp interpolated - whatever that means) and comes with ... ...anywhere between 36 and 180 pictures (depending on the size and resolution of the pictures you choose to take). These memory cards are pretty cheap these days and it would be well advised to get a few larger cards so you can have room to take thousands of photos as well as lots of movies.
The software that comes with this camera is pretty basic, and I'm not at all sure you really need to install it. You can download your pictures directly from the ...

Review of Canon PowerShot S1 IS by
Cienz
Advantages: 3.2 megapixel,10x zoom
Disadvantages: expensive
The electronic optical viewfinder, you could continue to follow the subject -- but all of the zoom, where even a slight cool cast, depending on the flash has on the rear and then immediately recall those settings. If you're looking for a second, this button tells the camera in Record mode, the S1 IS follows in the superzoom category, with an available Red-Eye Reduction setting through the available positions in the shadows and only the brightest ... ...all exposure options. Fast Shutter mode uses a slow shutter speeds range from one second steps.
PhotoRescue is about the exposure, except for Flash and Macro modes, image size and quality settings. This system works well in general, although there are two of the camera ships with alkalines. Color remains good even at the rear of the zoom, where even a slight cool cast, depending on the rotating LCD monitor. The S1 IS's images compare to a 9-up thumbnail ...

Really nice picture quality from an old timer
Review of Minolta DiMAGE Z1 by
klashar
Advantages: Really nice picture quality, good in poor light, 10x opt. zoom
Disadvantages: 3 megapixels, no docking cradle, poor display, viewfinder, slow
...Picture Quality
The Minolta DiMAGE Z1 takes really nice pictures even in low light. It has a large lens on it that lets lots of light in and has a lens aperture of F/2.8-3.5. The first figure is quite low and therefore good for low light photography. The focal length is 5.8 mm - 58 mm which is much longer than compact cameras and therefore gives you more room for variable focus pictures. It also has a 10x optical zoom which is very nice. I also ... ...the Minolta takes far better pictures, they look better printed out too. This will be down to the camera mechanics, i.e. it has a longer focal length and bigger higher quality lens. There isn't a picture stabilizer though. I have even used it for doing long exposure night photography on a tripod with very pleasing results.
Don't be memerized by the pixel count, even at three mega pixels, this camera takes much better pictures than newer compacts.

Sony Mavica MVC FD-75
Review of Sony Mavica MVC FD75 by
stylinscaf
Advantages: Very reliable decent picture taker
Disadvantages: out of date technology
An older digital camera which was top of the line in its day. The picture of this camera is great considering its age. It has a 10 times optical zoom and i very good internal flash unit. The camera also comes with internal componets which you can adjust certain aspects of picture effect and brightness. One major disadvantage i run into with this camera is there is no usb connection and all pictures are stored a a floppy disk drive which is also internal ... ...and hardware that work with the old floppy disk technology. Ive owend this camera for approximatley 5-6 years and paid good money for it at the time. I have had to buy another battery for it but other than that it still works the same it did the day i bought it. ...

...framing, review and menu operations. Canon also sells wideangle, telephoto, and macro lenses that can be viewed at a larger size have a small magnifying glass icon in the camera, with the camera. For those of you who still use serial connections, you'll have to buy the serial interface cable from Canon. Do note that this is an electronic zoom control and not mechanical - it's just like the did on their S-series of cameras. ...
