Advantages: Lightweight, fast
Disadvantages: too many programs and gadgets installed

I purchased this Dell Inspiron 1521 for my daughter to go to college in Oct of 2007. As soon as I received it, the DVD drive did not work at all. I spent almost 2 hours with tech assistance trying to fix the problem. I had to send it back, and send my daughter off to college without it. When I got it back, it worked fine until April of 2008. Then it started having pixlelated screen, no audio, blue screens, text would jump behind to the beginning ... Read review

Advantages nice looking very light
Disadvantages battery life

...This is the first laptop with a AMD processor that I ever bought and it will be the last… I bought it because it was slightly cheaper then the same laptop with a Intel processor, but now I know why it was cheaper: it is much slower and long hang time. the worst battery life i have every herd of. and because of the applications i run it makes it worse!! i never had any other problems with it. never crashed. works fine with windows xp but iv herd of people trying to upgrade to vista. if you upgrade to vista youll need another 2gb ram at least vista eats it up. this laptop can come with many upgraded features like high res screen ect ect overall its not the best...
